Spin-density wave, e.g. Neel order, and density modulated wave have been mainly discussed as conventional "density-wave orders" in electron systems. Recent various experiments, however, motivated us to study unconventional orders such as chiral order accompanied with spin chirality or circulating (spin-)current. The possibility of exotic phases in microscopic models of correlated electrons or spins has been the focus of interest. In particular, the two-leg ladder system is attracting attention as a minimal model for showing exotic orders.
In this talk, I will give a brief review of our recent finding of duality relations and exotic (chiral) orders in correlated systems on the ladder geometry[1,2,3]. We found exact duality transformations for both spin and electronic ladder systems, which gave duality relations between various orders. For the case of spin systems, it revealed that Neel order is dual to vector chirality and dimer order to scalar chirality[1]. For electron systems, it showed that unconventional density-wave orders such as staggered flux or circulating spin-current are dual to conventional density-wave orders[2].
